We planned our holiday travel trip to Udaiur, a place which is very famous for its lakes, and also called as a "city of lakes". Udaipur is also known as the "Venice of the East" or the "Kashmir of Rajasthan".
We had planned our stay from 30th Sept 2017
(Dussehra) up to 3rd Oct 2017 and were offered a winter green room
with a garden view.
But when we reached the hotel on Dussehra 30th
Sept 2017, we were given a different room. We did not find out much about the
reason for the same, as we had already decided to cut short our visit, due to
some important domestic reason.
Fortunately my wife liked the outside view seen from
the large window of the room provided to us. That was really great.
Even though the room was not so spacious, it was good
enough for two persons.
We could see natural greenery, mountains, traffic on
the adjoining bridge and also the trains passing every half-an-hour, which was
very enjoyable. After seeing the garden side of the hotel, my wife felt the
view from our room was more enjoyable. This does not mean the garden side was
bad.
Tourists usually search for hotels in Udaipur which are
near Fatehsagar Lake or Pichola Lake. We did the same thing in the beginning, when
we planned our visit to Udaipur. We tried to find all Udaipur hotels near lake.
But finally Fern Residency was our choice from the best Udaipur Hotels which is around
5 kms from Udaipur railway station. It was our luck that we could find a budget hotel in Udaipur The Fern Residency, for our stay.
I think its distance from Udaipur railway station does
not affect the ranking of the hotel, as there is an easy transport available immediately
outside. Also, the Fern hotel staff can arrange for a private car at a reasonable
price, if you wish.
Fern Residency can also arrange to pick you up from railway station by
car on chargeable basis if you inform them in advance.
You can reach within half-an hour or so by your car to famous
destinations viz. Bapu Bazaar, Lake Pichola, Fatehsagar, City Palace, Jagdish
Temple etc., and also to several other places like Sajjangarh & Biological
Park. These are the most famous points of tourist attraction in Udaipur city.
In fact we were lucky to have stayed here which was
away from crowd and traffic, as compared to other hotels in Udaipur.
We were provided the best hospitality in the Fern hotel and
all necessary help by the reservations executive, for the hotel booking. Our
special thanks to the reservations executive.
We had a pleasant and a satisfactory experience even
during the short stay. Thanks to all the staff, restaurant stewards and
managers who proved themselves to be very good professionals, by making us feel
important and providing us the best service.
The most important part of stay is the food. The
breakfast was complimentary and the menu consisted a very large variety of tasty and delicious
preparations. It was a buffet breakfast in The Fern Residency Udaipur, and that was a big deal.
The lunch was a-la-carte and was also very nice and
tasty. The prices on the menu card were reasonable. However, the dinner was buffet serving a large variety of local and
international favorites. We were fortunate enough to enjoy Chappan Bhog in the
buffet. It became very difficult for us to decide as what to eat.
The Chappan Bhog offer / scheme prevailed for a couple
of days, and they restaurant manager told us that every day they keep different
set of delicious recipes, except a common few. The breakfast, lunch and dinner were
the highlight of our stay.
All the food served here in hotel The Fern Residency Udaipur is vegetarian, but eggs and
omelets are also served. I also like to eat non-veg food, but since it is not there,
I can go and have it elsewhere. So, non-veg food lovers need not get
discouraged.
All of this was served in the The Prism Restaurant on the First floor of hotel Fern, which is a very nice dinning venue for the entire family. The hotel lounge music played in the restaurant as well as in lobby was really pleasing to the ears.
Needless to say about the cleanliness, good
housekeeping and other amenities, the hotel has spacious corridors, a separate
smoking zone (being an Eco sensitive hotel), and a bar too.
The hotel Fern Residency Udaipur, is best suited for businessmen and leisure
travelers. We also saw foreigners visiting this hotel.
I would always recommend this hotel for its best food,
nice people and best service.
Our stay at The Fern Residency Udaipur was the best
holiday package for us as we could book at the best price; and earned the best
value for money paid. Even though, there are many other budget hotels in
Udaipur, I would not hesitate to say that it is one of the best. Hotel The Fern Residency is a moderately priced budget hotel in Udaipur.
To say something more, The
Fern Residency Udaipur also runs a Membership program called “Green Cover”
which is free of cost. After your stay here you can enroll yourself as a “Green
Cover Member” and score points. You can accumulate more points in your next visit in any of the Fern Hotels all over India, and then redeem those points later, during your stays.
One can plan a social event at Fern Residency having
a gathering of up to 250 or so guests and the adjoining marquise lawn can accommodate an equal number of more people. We also came to know that in garden next to the hotel,
what they call as “Imperial greens” is used for events like wedding reception
or a wedding ceremony and the space is enough for 2000 guests and has enough
parking space.
