REVIEW OF BUFFET DINNER WITH MY FAMILY IN THE FERN RESIDENCY MUNDRA:

THINGS TO DO AND SEE IN AROUND MUNDRA:

Since a year or so, I have begun to write reviews on the places or hotels I visit in my holiday travel. I have also decided to write more reviews on the places I have visited with my family and in the hotels I have stayed in the past 3 to 4 years, on this travel blog – My holiday travel reviews.

I have published my review on Google in Google reviews, about the experience of buffet dinner in Fern Mundra, and reproducing it here again to begin with. 

My review of buffet dinner in the Fern is as below.

The cost / price person for only veg-buffet is Rs. 499/- and veg-non-veg-buffet is Rs. 599/- plus taxes.

I haven't yet stayed in Fern Residency Mundra, however I had been here with my family for a buffet dinner on 2nd of July 2017 and I saw the rooms also. Their staff showed me the rooms. The rooms and arrangement is very nice. The suite room is really very nice.

On every Sundays there is a veg / non-veg buffet dinner at Fern. There are occasional changes in this schedule. There is also a buffet lunch in Fern Residency; however it all depends on the arriving festivals / offers and schemes. It is better to check with them over phone, before you visit.

They do not keep non-vegetarian items on the table and this is due to some reservations of the locals, however they will serve you on your table but you have to ask for it.

However, regarding buffet dinner I would not recommend to those who are food lovers as the varieties were not so many as one would normally expect. But would also like to add that the dishes that were prepared for the buffet were very tasty and of good quality.

The "a la carte" lunch and dinner is very nice which is on all other days, and have experienced it two / three times in the past with my family. The place is very nice and staff is very co-operative. Nearness to Ports is an additional advantage. Good for parties and social functions.

There is no buffet lunch at Fern hotel on daily basis; and only occasional as said above, however it would be nice if they start keeping it every day, anytime in future. The schedule for buffet dinner is only on every Sunday as of now, however I wish to have it every day.

Now after this review, let me say more than just the buffet dinner.

The Fern Residency Mundra is a 3 star business hotel, and it is owned by Hotel Aarti International and falls under the popular brand of Fern Hotels and Resorts presented by the Concept Hospatility Limited. The hotel eco-friendly has lush green surroundings and you fill feel the peace and tranquility in the hotel.  

The hotel has 74 rooms available in three categories viz. Hazel Suites, Fern Club and Winter Green and the rooms are equipped with all modern amenities and facilities which one would really need. The rooms are in appropriate size, and a bath tub is provided in Suite rooms.   

Over and above usual amenities, there is Minibar which is special because the hotel is located in a prohibited state of Gujarat.

You can plan an event like a birthday party, wedding reception, or a marriage, or wedding anniversary etc. in Fern Residency Mundra having guests up to 300 in number. According to me, this is one of the best hotels in Mundra and a appropriate place to conduct corporate meetings. The conference hall and board rooms have all the required modern facilities and nice interiors.

Now I am writing something more here on my travel blog, so that it will be helpful to all the travelers who want to plan a trip to Mundra. It could be a business trip or leisure trip or just a brief halt in Mundra.

Mundra is a small town in the Kutch district in the Indian state of Gujarat, whose population has now attained an urban level. 

Mundra is well known for its container  / bulk terminal ports owned by Adani, as well as a the most technologically advanced container terminal port run by DP World taking land on lease (known earlier as Mundra International Container Terminal - MICT).

Mundra is now a largest private port of India.

How to reach Mundra? Read the travel tips / helpful information given below.

If you want to come by air, you should take a flight to land first at Bhuj or Kandla (the nearest airport to Gandhidham is Kandla). You could be coming from any destination viz. Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Calcata / Kolkata etc. Further, you can reach Mundra by a private taxi, which can drop you up to your hotel.

By road you can come to Mundra from Ahmedabad or Vadodara by private luxury bus and the most well known travel service / tour operator is Patel Travels. The luxury bus will drop you at Adarsh Towers which is just half a kilometer away from Mundra ST Bus stand. From Adarsh Towers itself, you can get an auto to reach your hotel.

There is no railway station at Mundra as yet, and hence if you want to come by train, then you should prefer Bhuj or Gandhidham as your destination, and then reach Mundra by a shared or a private taxi. The distance from both the places to Mundra is between 55 to 63 kilometers. If you hire a private taxi you can reach directly up to your hotel, or else the shared taxi will drop you at Adarsh Towers, and you have to get an auto to reach your hotel.

If you are on a business trip or have planned a family tour specifically for Kutch then you will need to book your stay in a hotel to ensure good comfort and a quality environment. You need to get a convenient accommodation that you wish for, and that suits you the most.

You will find that hotels in Mundra have a very wide and a diverse range. There are few best luxury hotels, some budget hotels, some cheap hotels etc. all of them providing accommodation, services and amenities of different standards of comfort. The hotels have a suitable check-in and checkout timings and rules.

Which hotels in Mundra are good for families?


Mainly, The Fern Residency, Mundra, The Shiv Nautica and Beetle Smartotels have received great reviews from families travelling in Mundra.

You can get quick transport to Port and other places from all these hotels. All these hotels are situated within a 5 kilometer radius from Mundra ST Bus stand / Adarsh Towers.

The port is within 15 kilometers from all these hotels, and you can reach there with necessary APSEZ (Adani Port Special Economic Zone) permissions, by hiring a taxi.

The places of tourist attractions in Mundra are mostly temples; however various points of tourist interest around Mundra include Gandhidham, Kandla, Bhuj and Mandvi etc. Gandhidham is famous for its attractions like Bhardeshwar and Akshardham Temple, while Bhuj is known for the Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary, Narayan Sarovar Sanctuary, Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary and Kutch Bustard Sanctuary.  

Wish your stay in Mundra is fruitful and enjoyable. If you happen to stay at the Fern then wish you enjoy the food too.

THINGS TO DO AND SEE IN AND AROUND MUNDRA:

There are so many other things to do in Mundra during your stay in hotel Fern or in any of the Mundra hotels. This is of course if you have sufficient spare time which may be due to an extended stay with your family and children, for some reason. 

Call an auto or taxi with the help of hotel staff, and take a tour of Mundra city (town). When you come out of Hotel Fern, on your left is the Zero Point Circle and a way towards the port. 

Your auto / taxi will move on the right from the hotel, and the first circle you find is the Mirza Corner Circle. On the left side at this point / crossing is the State Bank Of India (SBI Mundra). Take a right turn to go towards Mudra city (town). (click here to see the map).

To see the vegetable market and surrounding area, it would be more fun to walk. Just get down at china gate (a well known place in Mundra, however it is not shown in Mundra Map) from your auto / taxi. Your driver will park his vehicle there nearby or at Dr. Ambedkar Circle. If there is less traffic, you can take your vehicle too.

Enter the gate walking almost straight through the narrow lane / road for about half a kilometer. To make sure whether you are on the right path, look for an electronics shop named Parth Electronics situated on the right hand side of the narrow lane / road (even though it is not a landmark structure it is one of the popular shops in mundra). Taking a few steps ahead you will reach a road crossing.

At the road crossing, on the right hand corner there is sweets shop named Dhara Shakti Sweet & Namkeens. The shop is popular for its tasty Jalebi, Fafda and other sweets. You can also visit Chothani Shopping Mall at this point and Chhotani Complex few steps ahead opposite to Arihant Trading (click here to see the map). 

To see vegetable market, turn left and you will have to walk for half a kilometer to reach there. You can walk for about half a kilometer in all the directions from the crossing and do your shopping. You will find branded and other products.

After reaching the vegetable market, you need not go all the way back walking, to the china gate. The Mundra ST Bus Stand is just next to the vegetable market. You can call your auto / taxi driver over phone to come there to pick you and you can move further towards Baroi Road. (click here to see the map).

Here you will find many shops selling most of the branded items. You can also visit Mahavir Super Market, or the Mirza Mall etc. near the old petrol pump on Baroi Road.

You can go up to Sabri Fast Foods, Deep Chinese Centre, Axis Bank Mundra, or Mundra Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS Hospital) even ahead if you so wish. At the MIMS hospital you are within a radius of two kilometers from china gate, and at a distance of less than five kilometers from Fern Residency Mundra. (click here to see the map).

While returning towards china gate, you can come via Umiya Nagar taking a left turn at the point opposite to Sai Krupa Home Appliances (click here tosee the map). 

Or else, you can just return back on the same road, and route your vehicle taking a right turn after Mahavir Super Market, such that you can see - Mundra Civil Court – Mundra Police Quarter A – Mamlatdar Office – Adarsh Tower etc. and moving further to Dr. Ambedkar Circle, China gate and back to your hotel The Fern Residency.
