Review of buffet lunch in Fern Residency Mundra:

Since I including my wife and daughter enjoy buffet food, I usually contact the hotel or restaurant I wish or plan to visit, and enquire whether they keep buffet lunch, buffet dinner, or whether the food that will be served in the restaurant is a la carte.

When I contacted hotel Fern Mundra, they informed me that there is a buffet lunch on the coming Sunday, and the cost / price per person was Rs. 650/- plus taxes. There are corporate discounts too, which you need to inquire during your visit, as to what is applicable to you.

The Fern Residency Mundra keeps buffet lunch or buffet dinner normally on Sundays, however there is a change in this depending upon the prevailing room occupancy, upcoming festivals and various offers and schemes as planned and chalked out by the Fern Hotels.

On all other days, the lunch and dinner are a la carte, and not to forget to say about the complimentary buffet breakfast which will be offered if you stay in Hotel Fern Mundra.

So, I and my wife went to Fern on 17/12/2017 (Sunday). My daughter had gone to attend trekking camp at Manali. I am writing the review and sharing my experience on my travel blog – BEST REVIEWS ON HOTEL STAY, FOOD AND HOLIDAY TRAVEL – MY HOLIDAY TRAVEL REVIEWS so that it is helpful to many people who are food lovers and frequent visitors to hotels.

Unlike the last time when visited for a buffet dinner in July 2017, they had more varieties of food and delicious recipes this time.

We really enjoyed all the food right from soup, starters, main course, desserts and ice-cream in the Laziz restaurant in Fern Hotel Mundra. After we finished the hotel manager also asked whether we would like to have tea or coffee. But both of us were absolutely full and we stopped after having the ice cream. The chocolate ice cream was really amazing.

Among the veg. recipes especially to say about is the butter naan. Even though it is very common recipe everywhere, it was very special this time in the Laziz restaurant in The Fern Residency Mundra. The butter naan was really smooth to bite and the quality was really great. Even though I might have eaten it hundreds of times before, here this time it was really worth and satisfying. The dal fry and steam rice was also really very tasty.

Among the desserts, the blue berry suffle and phirini (kheer) was really great, and the baker’s basket had so many more varieties. There were south Indian dishes also during this buffet viz. Idli Sambar and Chutney and if you want dosa, then just ask for it and the cook will make it for you there and there itself. Among non-veg recipes the fish and chicken were really soft and fresh.

The restaurant manager, stewards, waiters (male and female) inquired as to which dishes we liked and how the food was. The food was really tasty, however what made us really happy was due to the concern shown by the hotel staff. The background music in the restaurant was ok.  

After finishing our meals, we went to the lounge and then moved in and around the Fern Hotel for a while and I clicked a few photographs also. In spite of everything good I have said in this review about The Fern Residency Mundra, one thing I would like to add here is that if you have stayed and enjoyed food in any of the fern hotels elsewhere in any other large cities in India, then you may feel that hotel Fern Mundra could have done little more with regards to the food.

But last time when we came here, I saw the rooms also, and arrangements for stay with all the modern amenities are as good as the Fern Residency Udaipur where I stayed with my family recently in sept-oct 2017.

Mundra is a growing city or town and it will take some more time for the locals to start dinning in hotel Fern more frequently, just as it happens in other cities.

In Mundra which is progressing very fast, I must say hotel Fern Mundra is one of the best hotels you can visit. It has all modern amenities required by professionals and has a location advantage of nearness to ports and also an easy access to transport.

Hotel The Fern Residency Mundra has planned an event / program on 31st December 2017 celebration - TEMPTATION 2018 - The biggest party of the year - unlimited food, Music & Masti. An evening party to welcome the new year 2018. For your bookings, you need to contact the hotel for your passes. I was informed by the hotel staff, when I visited Fern for a lunch on 17/12/2017 (Sunday), that the per person charges for the event is Rs.2000/-.
